Mr Ferry,

Warm greetings from Hong Kong.

Hope this letter finds you well. With it I have also enclosed a few things for your autograph as well as some “bribes” (tourist must have’s from the infamous Temple Street) for the Boys & Girls at your office.

There is something about old school letters. It communicates on a more xxxxxx level. Words on a piece of time-worn paper is In a special celebration I have planned for my wife

Dedication to BF Finale

I recently had the pleasure to find an interesting synchronicity on your xxxxx article.

Let me first start off with how bad a fan I am. I was an entrant in the Boys and Girls era and dropped off shortly after Manouma. It is now several decades before I am to find the spark in your music. The new appreciation probably comes from a deeper understanding of love on my part. Your music, I now find, is one of few that truly stands the test of time. In actuality, I find more joy in picking out the subtle nuances that have always been there.

The synchronicity is that in the article it says you still like handwritten letters. This email is about letters.

The short version of the story is I promised my wife 108 letters before and in the last letter, your music plays a key part - because it is the only one I could find that captures the feeling I try to express with words.

The long version is www.event website.

I wish to sincerely ask for an autograph from you on this special occasion. It will be something we won’t forget.

Most sincerely yours,

BF

Your music, like what you sing about, covers such swaths of what it means to be alive; it is inevitable that what I say would sound like a cliche. But as believers know, those hallmark cards are more than platitude; they are real. When I listen to Reason or Rhyme, I feel like I a, seeing my life. Mr. Ferry, I salute your love for music. Love gives something weight, meaning and some kind of strength that brings us to a higher place. Your songs have always bring me glimpse of such a place.

When I discovered Reason or Rhyme during the lockdown; I felt like I must write you. I am not a very good fan. I xxxx But the synchronicities are too glaring to ignore.

May I take an afternoon of your time and introduce xxx:

To indulge myself, I would seek your permission to use your lyrics:

Why must you shed such tender tears

In the evening of your years

No other love could stem the tide (twin flame)

Of the loneliness I hide

Open your heart and let me live

All the promises I could give (story)

The sun and moon and all the stars (MV2)

They bow down to you whenever you pass

In a world of fading sadness

An emerald ring, a photograph

That look in your eyes the brush of your cheek

These are the moments in life that I seek

No reason or rhyme, no presence of mind (Letter )

Just a dance to the music of time (MV3???)

Why must you shed such tender tears

In the evening of your years

No other love could stem the tide

Of the loneliness I hide

Inside out, upside down (MV5)

Obscured by clouds, or underground (MV3.8 Alive / Believer)

The sun and moon and all the stars

They bow down to you whenever you pass

Wherever you are, whenever you speak

These are the moments in my life that I seek (MV3.8 Everything)

No reason or rhyme, by chance or design

Just a dance to the music of time

Open your heart and let me live

All the promises I could give

The sun and moon and all the stars

They bow down to you whenever you pass

No reason or rhyme, by chance or design

Just a dance to the music of time

Mr Ferry, I also have taken the liberty (as most in the hey days of Roxy Music) to play your songs at the “proposal” party I have planned for my wife. It’s something I owe her and feel I must get around to do. Your songs, through the years, weave a tale (L106 Music) so compelling and so resistant to time that I can find nothing else to convey the feeling of what true love feels like. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude as your songs truly breathed life to what I consider to be the most important moment of my life. The day when one kneels before is a day we find heaven on earth. May this day come for this beautiful earth/world.

I have enclosed a couple of items nostalgic to me. It’s a piece of that music of time for me. May I ask for an autograph? It would mean SO much to me and Isabella. We hope to receive your blessing as you, to us, are the persona of love timeless.

Yours most sincerely,

John Chan

Mr Ferry,

I salute your love for music.

This other one here is a letter (L10?) I have written for my wife. In it I tell her about music; and for that I wish to whole-heartedly thank you for yours.

The special evening is concluded by an afterparty which features your music over the years arranged into 4 “acts”. That feeling evolves the same way love does over time. Only yours convey this very special quality.

I have taken the liberty to reprint an old magazine cover and wish to ask for an autograph. This will make an amazing surprise for Isabella!

Yours truly,

John

Arranged into something of a play with different acts. To us life is a bit like this. At different stages, it feels different - even though it remains the same thing.

Your music conveys this better than anything that is fad.

I come to tears when I listen to Reason or rhyme and hear the words. The synchronicity is too much. The feeling that miracles are all around is overwhelming. The stuff that makes one feel alive
