The videos are a gift for my wife, to be shown at a private celebration. A sort of visual letter, they are a hodge-podge of our favorite music, movies, travelogue, etc..
The Chinese words in the video are from an old postcard bought at a shop named literally “letters over three lifetimes”. The Chinese character for “letter” - in a most delightful serendipity - carries the double meaning of “believe”; which happens to be the title of the song from Goldfrapp.
Many ‘accidents’ took place in the making of the videos. To be honest, I had no hand in most of the editing wizardries as my skills are in fact quite limited. The way they turn out keep surprising me… as was so often I only discovered these little gems after the fact. How the music goes hand in glove with video clips found on Youtube… (the firework scene!!), and other little things of such randomness and odds just present themselves. My own personal favorites are ‘supernova’ and ‘flying earring’ in the next video. Talk about being right there at the right time…
Synchronicities such as these keep showing up in front of us as if markers on a road to somewhere. Hopefully, at the end of it we will find the answer to a question dear to our heart.
108 LETTERS is the party website for a special celebration I planned for my wife on 2020/02/02. The evening is in the format of one giant letter.
Sadly, due to COVID, it is postponed.
